Our Roots

The Falkirk Allotment Society (FAS) was set up because of a desire by local residents to have access to space to grow their own fruit and vegetables within the framework of an allotment garden. In September 2006, Forth Valley Food Links staged a small street allotment in their food fair 'Eat the Streets' to establish whether there was a desire within Falkirk district residents to grow their own food.

Our vision is for a well run site where we can develop best practice and provide support for the development of allotments within the Falkirk Council area. Our pilot site will be based on the 'Bridgend' model in Edinburgh which is a modern, well run site, thus avoiding the shanty town images many people associate with allotments. Our progress will be displayed via the 'FAS News' & 'Bantaskine' sections of this web site and the Falkirk Herald.

Your Growth

By registering and paying a one off £12 registration/membership fee to FAS you will be placed on the waiting list for an allotment. When allotments become available they will be allocated in turn from the waiting list on a one per household basis. Note, only members on our register will be allocated an allotment managed by the Falkirk Allotment Society. Registration increases the ability to lobby Falkirk Council and highlights the desire for the provision of allotments by the residents. It will take much effort to see the first green shoots in your allotment, your support can make it happen.
