Teatime Treats ![]() Shortbread Shortbread Ingredients 225g (8oz) Butter 100g (4oz) Icing Sugar 225g (8oz) Flour 100g (4oz) Cornflour Pinch of Salt Method 1. Cream butter and sugar thoroughly until soft and light. 2. Gradually work in the flour and cornflour and knead until smooth. 3. Press into a baking tin 30cm x 20cm (18in x 12in) 4. Bake in a preheated oven at 170 degrees centigrade for 35-40 minutes. (Fan oven, 145 degrees centigrade 30-35 minutes.) 5. When ready, remove from oven and dust with caster sugar while still hot, leave in the tin until cold, then cut and serve. P.S. Someone asked me why I put a recipe for shortbread on an allotment website. It will soon be New Year, that's what you eat at New Year and your own baking always tastes better. Easy!!
